I am currently full and not taking on any new clients at the moment.

Autism

I am a certified Autism Spectrum Clinical Specialist (ASDCS). Over my years in practice I have worked with many autistic clients and couples.

Living in a society set up for neurotypicals is most often exhausting for autistic people. The need to continually mask can often lead to exhaustion and burn out.

Autistic people can also experience difficulties in the schooling system (bullying is unfortunately common) and experience a lifetime of feeling ‘othered’. This can affect their self confidence and feelings of safety. Unfortunately, trauma is also common in the autistic community.

I like to take a strengths based approach and look at the strengths that are also very common in autistic people; whilst also looking at strategies which can be used to try to mitigate autistic burn out and also ways and strategies to navigate situations that can be more challenging - such as some social situations for example.

I have a great deal of experience of working with couples where one partner is autistic. This could be in a couple with one neurotypical partner or perhaps a couple with one partner having ADHD whilst the other partner is autistic. This pairing is very common. It is so important for couples to fully understand their differences and also their individual strengths. In couples work we can also work on areas that may be more difficult to manage in neurodivergent couples.' Love languages and communication around feelings may be different in a neurotypical and autistic partner.

I have had the pleasure to work with many autistic clients over my years in practice and have extensive experience in supporting clients with PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance). I also have extensive experience in working with individuals and couples presenting with AuDHD (co-ocurring autism and ADHD).

I welcome both individuals and couples from the autistic community.
